Furniture Hunt

One of the Interior Designer's job [including trainees] are suppose to design/select the loose furnitures besides built-in fittings detailing works for a project, especially residential. I am currently assisting in the interior works of a residential project in PJ SS16, and just finished the proposal of the living room. [the few days back last week which I was hyped-thru-the week], yeah..thats why. =P

Anyway, the design direction that they apply is sort-of Brutalism + Raw-to-Materials + Simplicity + Functional..I just cant find 1 word to describe it, it seems to be a combination of everything :) yeah...very similar to the approach of the upcoming trade center

So...went furniture hunt today [in some places suggested by senior]

I thought its in the Bangsar Village 2, end up its in Bangsar Shopping Center [i thought its the same =P]

Last available set, walnut solids + leather backing
new arrivals, black n brown leather on s/s
*pictures credit to Gudang Damansara*

At the Gardens, after I visited the Gudang Damansara. The Sales Rep from Gudang Damansara says that they keep different collection of furniture in 2 of their centers...[means diff stock @ diff place, diff time]

Last set available...

Of course, I asked Michelle about how-furniture-hunts-usually-works before I go la...4th Saturday, working until 1pm, and went lunch with Daphne before I head to Bangsar, the Maarof to be precise...

Before I went Furniture Hunting [instead of shopping], I actually googled, and found this

*picture credits to Google Image Search*

Didn't take any pics though...bcoz the Sales Rep said that she'll email me the pics with the price.
Designer furniture pieces...damn cool right?? I once felt that these stuffs only exists in the movies... =P I like the Red one...who volunteers to buy me a pair? I can settle with only 1 piece too!!

p.s never dream/think of hiring an interior designer to do your house if you dont have a 1mil. [preferably USD]
Its unreasonably hard to do with a tight budget.

to be? or not to be in paranoia ?

u know
when it gets to design studio
its rather complicated
and it's head-cracking
when u know that u have nothing in your head

so...here comes the to be, or not to be time
time to make choices

1. stare at your draft paper pad
2. start google-ing crazy stuffs like
---> 'this crazy shoes'
---> 'this crazy homes '
---> 'this crazy car crash'
3. facebook
4. msn and appear offline
5. chew on snacks + tea + coffee + ...
6. morning/afternoon/evening nap
7. stick to your mp3 player
8. watch or re-watch some movies / dramas?
9. blog
10. stare at your draft paper again

then...came across ruthz's blog and read this
what's your name's hidden meaning

What Tess Soh Bee Hian Means

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often ??, to fairly random locations.

You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.??
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are full of energy. You are spirited and boisterous.
You are bold and daring. You are willing to do some pretty outrageous things.
Your high energy sometimes gets you in trouble. You can have a pretty bad temper at times.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination <- thats exactly the thing i need the most RIGHT NOW~!. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

accurate? cool?
go n check it out~
i guess that i am indeed in paranoia now...no nightmares please~

p/s...im still staring at my design pad...tmr got morning class lor~!

'dont you dare to mess with me'

Trip Destination
1 - Timber Workshop
where the FRIM people have their LOGYARD
(sounds like the trees' graveyard)
and they treat their timber products
cutting trimming sawing compressing oven-ing etc etc etc

a little touch of souvenir

innovative design using Oil Palm Laminate

you might be big, yet still small

we saw this when we are about to head to the 2nd destination
its abit cruel i feel
imagine you got all your ribs, bones, limbs here
and got trimmed, scarred, tied, bent all over into the shapes
should we still do that?

2 - Timber Tech Centre

the Research n Development department
with their Workshop and Lab with crazy huge machines
and its Air Conditioned - thank God
*it was not sunny, but stuffy*

hallway of darkness and intensity

product - 1
timber laminate w/ veneer finish
Rubber Timber + Imported Veneer

Product - 2
Oil Palm Laminate Chair surface grain finish
i actually prefer this compared to the Veneer-ed surface
feels more natural n special
its almost the same concept of having rattan chairs at home

a little touch of nature

3 - Our 'Graveyard'

Air Kroh Waterfall Picnic area
nice ambience over there
warm sunlight, breezes, water symphony
perfect spot for a picnic
but there are leeches
and Wenyi got bitten...*goosebumps*

a gentle touch of sunlight + refracted skylight

a hand of love love love

'jangan kacau around...sit diam diam...'
(its juz a joke...)

fyi, its fanson's 1st encounter with tadpoles
im curious, anything besides barbie dolls & poo during ur childhood?

a little Zen touch by Janet

if i would choose again, i would like to have my crit session here everytime

p/s to ms Diana, if u r reading
the bihun goreng, cucur and sandwiches are awesome~!
especially the sandwiches...lurve that sour-y touch...
fun time is over

INTE-FRIM crit prologue

Have no idea why i put all these irrelevent pics about trees?
coz im heading there tomorrow
for my design studio interim crit inte-FRIM crit
a lil bit odd huh?

Its actually at the FRIM
Forest Research Institute of Malaysia
lucky for me, its located at Kepong
relatively near to my house compared to Cheras

It used to be a nice jogging spot when i was in secondary
coz my high school...is just walking distance of 30mins?
and get a chance to hang out with friends after the morning jog
normally is shopping time after that lar...*giggles*
so...FRIM kinda leave me good memories during my old days
duh~ im still young...wakaka :P

yet...ashamed to tell
i have never been there for all the Canopy walk thingy
the waterfall picnic thingy & the swimming?
just the jog...and Diana kinda sms-ed us this afternoon
telling that we will be picnic-ing there

so...a lot of first time
and of course...first time to have interim crit out of campus

p.s when got bomb-ed into scraps, just jump into the water
it chills...and im so f-king scared of the leeches...

MSID TigaBelas Student Saturday, IIUM

+++ continuation of the previous post +++

This year's MSID Student Saturday is in IIUM
(International Islamic University of Malaysia)
Came here for the APSDA Student Workshop 2 years back...
it wasnt a very good experience that time...yet we enjoyed meeting great peeps
George, Keith, Adam, Martin, Adelyn, Adrian etc etc...miss u guys
Some of the juniors actually came here for another event,
which is the PAM Student Camp last year, which was also in IIUM.

The host added some funky elements with this year's theme
Futurama
at the Registration Counter...the Red, Yellow thing hanging from top...
a bit spooky when you are all alone at their lobby area...but its cool~!

the Bunting Design that we entered ...its Undeniably eye catching
love it so much...hard work of Jasmynn...ME...EEzhu...and Chris
hanging at the lobby area, along with other college's entries
sad we can only send 1...

Inside the itemnaries that they have issued out previously,
we have seminars and talks
after our registration in their Auditorium until 1530...
Before that, we had this teabreak at their Baiduri Courtyard...
where they serve us Rose Syrup, Fruits and Sushi

During that talk, there were 2 sessions...
one by Ar. Zaini Zainul, from Dubus Richez,
one by Mr Ian Davies/Iskandar Abdullah (a Muslim from UK)...
Managing Director of ArcRadius
both talking about the Built Environment's Future Trend...
and i find this picture below...very interesting...

Mr Ian Davies actually showed us this video - Sketches of Frank Gehry...
but we were too far away from the schedule, and had to leave after 10 minutes of the documentary was on screen (after Mr. Davies' seminar)
i wanna watch~!!! *snob snob*

Here's the Trailer

Then...we had to rush our Lunch,
and head to the Metropolitan Park for the coming up Kite Flying event
(along with the Nippon Paint Zig-Saw installation and the Explorace)
Unfortunately, i was in the Explorace,
and thats how we looked at the end of the race...

another shot with Janet...

see...see...see...Mugen is eating ice-cream on his own...
where's mine?

by that time everything ended...its almost 1930,
and we rushed back to the IIUM,
to get all our dorm keys and room arrangementdone...
Then...

DINNER~!!!

decoration at the Baiduri Courtyard...
by that time everybody arrived, it was almost 2100
little food left for foragers...luckily i drove the UCSI ladies from the dorm,
we only get lil portion of Laksa and BBQ mutton...
and peeps..its really nice~!!!
(its just that they have slight miscalculation on the food's quantity)

Poor juniors foraging each others' food..

Great ambience and lighting effects

End up eating dessert to fill their empty stomach...pity u guys...

Then...its the Performance night, at the IIUM Auditorium...
sadly, UCSI didnt take part...
its okay...we'll make it next year~!

+++ Day 2 +++

The Trash to Treasure by Nippon Paint

Our furniture before refurbishment

Tadaa....after refurbishment...
i told you we can do wonders~!
It does feel nice when everybody is here looking up and down,
here and there at our babies...our masterpieces

From LEFT to RIGHT
Jayz Fanson ME Joe Wenyi Chris Jasmynn Janet Ivy Eezhu
and of course...the redfish Redzwan

some candid shots (and gay shots) of Fanson...wakaka

and juniors' masterpiece ...i want to steal and frame it up...coz its really really really nice....

Apart from the BBQ dinner, we are so going to miss the kite, all the candids, our masterpieces, and the moments that we cheered together...

PS See You Again in EmpatBelas?
